I don’t know what I’m supposed to do I can’t tell if I’m being true To myself or to you

I don’t know how I’m supposed to feel

I’m not one for New Year’s resolutions, but this year I’m resolved to get out and see more live music. And what better way to kick off my concert-going season than with the always entertaining Blues Traveler? The veteran jam band will be performing at the Beacon Theatre in New York City on January 7, and I’ve got my tickets ordered.

In preparation for the show, I’ve been revisiting some of my favorite Blues Traveler tunes. “Hook” is definitely near the top of that list. It’s a perfect example of the band’s signature blend of bluesy rock with just a hint of pop sensibility.

And John Popper’s harmonica playing is, as always, impeccable. If you’re looking for a dose of musical inspiration to start your year off right, I highly recommend checking out Blues Traveler at the Beacon Theatre. And if you can’t make it to NYC, don’t worry – they’ll be touring all over the country in 2017!

The Heart Brings You Back Lyrics

We all have that one song. The song that no matter what mood you’re in, it can instantly transport you back to a specific moment in your life. For me, that song is “The Heart Brings You Back” by Ryan Adams.

This song was released in 2007, but I didn’t discover it until 2013. I was going through a really tough time in my life and this song just spoke to me. It’s about struggling and feeling lost, but ultimately finding your way back home.

These lyrics in particular always give me chills: “And if you don’t know where you belong Just listen to the beat of your heart

It’s gonna lead you back…” No matter how far off track I feel like I’ve gotten, these words remind me that I can always find my way back home. That there’s nothing wrong with being lost for a little while, as long as you eventually let yourself be found again.

And even on days when I’m feeling good and everything is going right, this song still brings me back to that time in my life when things were really tough… because it reminds me how far I’ve come since then. If you’re ever feeling lost, or like things are just too hard… remember that the heart will always bring you back home..
